AM to PM Candle Care Tips

The First Burn is the Most Important! 🔥

When you light your candle, allow for the wax to burn for a whole hour. This creates a memory burn. The wax must melt entirely in order to create a wax pool. This will ensure that no tunneling occurs and will create an even burn.

 Keep your wick trimmed! ✂️

Try to ensure that the wick is 5mm long at all times. We recommend trimming your candle wick every 3 hours of burn time. When trimming, it is important to follow these steps:

✅Blow out the flame

✅Let the candle cool down to room temperature (for best results let the candle cool overnight)

✅Remove excess wick debris

✅Trim your wick using ‘wick cutting scissors'

✅Re-light your candle

The above steps will allow for a clean burn and steady flame. This will eliminate the chances of mushrooming and sooting from occurring. Avoid burning your candles for longer than 3 hours at a time. Once the candle has reached 3 hours of burn time, you should allow for the candle to cool down (approximately 2 hours) before relighting the wick.

Putting out your candle 💨

It is beneficial to use a candle snuffer when putting out your flame, as this will ensure that the wick does not move around and avoids the chance of wax spilling. This results in a healthy wick and will maximise your next burn time.

Spilt Wax Removal ❌

If candle wax is accidentally spilt, ensure the wax is cooled and hardened before attempting to clean it. Use a warm cloth to remove the hardened wax.

Maximising your Scent Throw 🌹

In order to release a long lasting scent throw in a room, it is essential to keep all windows and doors closed. Opening windows and doors will result in your candle producing a weaker scent throw.

How to Store Your Candle Properly ❗

When storing your candle over an extended period of time:

✅Ensure that it is kept in a cool and dry place, preferably at room temperature.

Avoid placing your candle in direct sunlight to prevent fading and discolouration.

Candles are sensitive to extreme temperatures (cold and heat), therefore, it is ideal to store them between 10-30ºC.

Do not leave candles in a car or a hot room for a long period of time (specifically on warmer days) as this may cause the candle to melt and discolour.

✅Storing your candle in extreme cold temperatures, leads to cracking and separation from the glass (frosting).

Wax Pool Fires 🚨

  • It is important to consistently follow appropriate candle care instructions. Failure to do so, increases the chance of a wax pool fire. If the Wax Pool becomes over heated the candle may catch fire in the case of a fire.
  • Do not keep anything flammable of that can catch fire near the candle. Never persist in picking up the candle or moving it while it is on fire.
